FAQ

Participation in the Dharmadhara Study and Practice Program is open to anyone who wishes to study the dharma and is interested in Tibetan Buddhism, especially the valuable teachings of the Drikung Kagyu tradition. Additionally, all interested individuals are warmly invited to attend the events, regardless of whether they wish to participate in the entire study and practice program.
No. You can join the Study and Practice Program at any time without prior enrollment. Simply register for individual events.
To earn the required Credit Points (CP) for the degree, a minimum duration of five years is expected. However, the Dharmadhara Study and Practice Program is designed to be flexible, allowing participants to progress at their own pace. Therefore, all participants can take as much time as they need. This flexibility is particularly advantageous for those who wish to complete the program alongside their professional commitments.
No. There is no obligation to attend every seminar offered. Participants are free to choose seminars individually and to take longer breaks between sessions as needed.
Credit Points (CPs) are awarded for participation in seminars and courses. To successfully complete the study program, a specific number of CP must be earned in each module. The exact number of required CPs can be found in the Module Manual.
As some of the educational offerings are organized in collaboration with various Drikung centers in Germany or the German Buddhist Union (DBU), registration is done through the websites of the respective organizers. The relevant links can be found in the descriptions of individual seminars on our website.
Most seminars are held in a hybrid format, meaning participation is possible both on-site and online. However, for certain events such as meditation retreats and yoga practice sessions, on-site attendance is required.
Many of our online seminars are recorded. If you are unable to attend at the scheduled time, we are happy to provide you with the recordings upon request. Recordings will only be made available to participants who had registered for the seminar in advance. However, it is ultimately up to the organizer to decide whether or not a seminar will be recorded.
To receive the completion certificate, proof of attendance at all seminars is required. We ask all participants to have their presence confirmed by the seminar leader at the end of each seminar or seminar series. You can submit the pre-filled attendance certificate to the course leader for their signature. These certificates should be collected individually by each participant and submitted together to the program coordination office at the end of the study program.
Access details for online events are usually sent to all registered participants no later than 24 hours before the start of the event.
Individual retreats are part of Module 3. Planning and conducting individual retreats can be done at any time and at any retreat center, provided the retreat is coordinated and planned with one of our Drubpons. This includes a pre- and post-retreat interview with the supervising Drubpon. Please prepare any questions you have in advance. Once you have decided on a retreat period and registered at the chosen retreat center, please contact the Dharmadhara program coordination office to organize the pre- and post-retreat discussions with the Drubpons. In exceptional cases, retreats may also be conducted from home.
In the first year (2024), participation in the seminars is open to all interested individuals. Due to the profound nature of the practices in the following years (starting from 2025), only participants who meet the following criteria will be accepted: Attendance: Complete all three seminars in 2024 or, if unable to attend, listen to the recordings. Retreat: Successfully complete the required retreat (either 2 weeks, 30 days, or 100 days) under the guidance of Drubpon Tsering Rinpoche by the beginning of the teachings for the following year. Practice: Regularly, ideally daily, engage in the practice taught in the teachings.
The final certificate is issued as soon as the required number of credit points (CPs) has been achieved and all certificates of attendance have been submitted to the program coordinator.
