Bodhicitta, the enlightenment mind, is the motivation to attain Buddhahood for the benefit of all beings. This attitude is also referred to as enlightenment mind or the heart of enlightenment. In the practice of Mahayana, the great vehicle, the development of love, compassion and bodhicitta is the essential foundation for all sentient beings. Through the practices based on this, we attain spiritual qualities and realisations that enable us to help other beings, overcome suffering and attain liberation. Bodhicitta is also the basis for realising the nature of the mind.
In this seminar we will learn the basics of Bodhicitta and do meditations to develop love and compassion.
This seminar is part 3 of the seminar series ‘Basics of Buddhism’ but can also be attended as a stand-alone seminar.
Part 4 deals with acting Bodhicitta in the form of the six perfections.

Christian Licht completed studies in electrical engineering and environmental sciences. In 1992, he came into closer contact with Buddhist teachings and practices and received initiations and teachings from Buddhist masters. He lived as a Buddhist monk for six years and has been a long-time employee of the Buddhist Center in Aachen. He edits publications of scriptures, meditation texts, and CDs, and leads courses.
