Let us together discover the profound teachings of Jigten Sumgön (1143–1217), the founder of the Drikung Kagyü tradition. In the work “The Great Drikung Instructions to the Assembly,” his direct teachings are recorded. In these teachings, we find many points that later served in the compilation of the famous work Gongchig, and they offer us the unique opportunity to participate in the direct instructions of one of the great Tibetan masters. We meet regularly to read together parts of the thirty instructional units and explore their timeless wisdom about Bodhicitta, dependent origination, meditation, and the Buddhist path. Through lively discussion and shared reflection, we deepen our understanding of these core themes of Buddhism and discover their significance for our practice. The translator of the work, Sonam Spitz, will provide impulses for discussions and contextualize the text passages with additional background.
The book can be purchased as a foundation here.
This event is part of a four-part lecture series. The two additional dates will take place on Sat. 06.12.2025 and on Sat. 17.01.2026. It is possible to attend individual sessions.
