This seminar series builds on the first seminar series “Introduction to Classical Tibetan.” It is aimed at those interested in consolidating and expanding their knowledge of the Tibetan written language in order to engage more deeply with Buddhism. Solid foundational knowledge of classical Tibetan grammar will be taught. At the same time, reading Tibetan script will be deepened and a basic vocabulary will be developed. The primary teaching material is the textbook “Einführung in die tibetische Schriftsprache” by Christine Sommerschuh, 2008. Although there are no grades or exams, completing written homework as well as preparing for and reviewing lessons are crucial for successfully completing the course. After completing the seminar series, participants will be able to read simple Buddhist texts independently. If enough interested participants come together, a reading course will be offered following this seminar series to review and deepen what has been learned.
Registration is valid for the entire seminar series (10 sessions).
