The Mahāyānottaratantra-Śāstra, in short Uttara-Tantra, is the last of five treatises composed by Asaṅga in the 4th century, containing the teachings of Buddha Maitreya. This work describes the highest teaching (uttara-tantra) of the Mahāyāna and includes, among other things, important instructions on the so-called Buddha-nature. The course is organized by the center Drikung Tashi Jong in Wipperfürth (near Wuppertal and Cologne) and taught by Khenpo Konchog Choskyab.
The event is all-day and includes daily meditation and pujas.
Khenpo Konchog Choskyab was part of the first group of monks who began studying Buddhist philosophy in 1987 at the newly founded Drikung Kagyu Institute in Dehra Dun, India. With the support of H.H. Drikung Kyabgon Chetsang Rinpoche, he was able to continue his studies for a further three years at the Sakya Dzongsar Institute after nine years of study. He then studied from 2001 at Drepung Loseling Monastery in southern India for a further nine years and received the title of Khenpo from H.H. Drikung Kyabgon Chetsang Rinpoche. After serving as the responsible director of Kagyu College Dehradun, he is currently the director of Changchub Ling Monastery in Dehradun. Khenpo la possesses inexhaustible knowledge as well as great warmth. Due to his extensive and brilliant knowledge, he was invited by the stronghold of Buddhist teachings in Varanasi, India, to teach there permanently.
