The Drikung Garchen Institut e.V. is a center of the Drikung Kagyu tradition of Tibetan Buddhism under the spiritual guidance of H.E. Garchen Rinpoche. Since its foundation in 2000 as a non-profit organization in Munich, the institute has offered various activities such as lectures, seminars, regular meditations, and meditation retreats.
The institute aims to authentically convey Buddhism in the Tibetan tradition and thus create a solid foundation for Buddhism in the West. As a member of the German Buddhist Union (DBU) since 2004, the institute promotes the exchange and advancement of Buddhist practice. Drubpon Tsering Rinpoche has been the institute’s senior resident lama and representative of H.E. Garchen Rinpoche since 2004. He regularly gives teachings and leads retreats. Since 2013, Drubpon Palkyi has also been supporting the institute by leading pujas, giving seminars, and taking care of various matters at the center.

DRIKUNG SHERAB MIGCHED LING, AACHEN

Drikung Sherab Migched Ling – “The Place where the Eye of Wisdom Opens” – was founded in 1982 by H.E. Ayang Rinpoche at the request of Tändsin T. Karuna (Elke Tobias) in Aachen. The center is under the patronage of the two Drikung Kyabgöns. In 1991, it was recognized as a non-profit organization, and in 1998, it was accepted as a member of the German Buddhist Union (DBU). Tändsin T. Karuna and Christian Licht currently run the center and teach the Dharma.
A wide range of offers enables interested people to get to know the Buddhist teachings, reflect on the contents, and familiarize themselves with them in meditation. Several times a year, Buddhist teachers visit the center to lead seminars. Three times a year, the center newsletter is published with articles and a detailed program of events. The Drikung Kagyü publishing house (DKV) has been part of the center since 1995 and has published many meditation texts and some books. These and other items are available from the center’s Mandala Dharma shop, both on-site and online.

DrIKUNG DHARMAKIRTI, HEUCHELHEIM

The registered association “Gemeinschaft für tibetisch-buddhistische Kultur e.V.” (Tibetan Buddhist Culture Society) is named after one of the most famous Tibetan scholars and yogis of his time, the first Drikung Kyabgön Chungtsang – Dharmakirti (1595 – 1659). The center is located on the edge of the Lahnaue nature reserve in Heuchelheim near Gießen and was founded in December 1984. Highlights of the events are the visits of Buddhist teachers who, through their knowledge and profound experience, convey the teachings in an authentic and inspiring way. In lectures and seminars, they explain Buddhist philosophy and meditation practice and lead meditation retreats to deepen what has been learned. The regularly offered activities are led by the two ordained members living at the center, Lama Tashi Deldan from the Tserkarmo Monastery in Ladakh and Ani Könchok Tsechö.
