We cordially invite you to a lecture about a special treasure of Tibetan Buddhist literature: The Essence of Mahayana Teachings by Ngorje Repa from the 12th century.

Although this text has remained largely unknown in the Western world, it is considered one of the most significant teaching texts of the Drikung Kagyü tradition. In the accompanying auto-commentary A Sea of Words of Wisdom, Ngorje Repa presents with remarkable thoroughness the entire path to Buddhahood: from the foundation of Buddha-nature through the practice of the three vows (Pratimoksha, Bodhisattva and Mantra vows) to the goal of perfect awakening. In doing so, he integrates both the classical stages of the path (Lamrim) as well as central elements of Vajrayana teaching, particularly the five-fold path of Mahamudra.

The lecture will be given by two of the translators of the soon-to-be-published book volumes of this significant work. They will not only illuminate the text’s genesis and the author’s life story, but also provide a brief insight into the complex translation process. A special focus lies on the content and structure of the work.

Starting in 2026, a comprehensive teaching series on this extraordinary text will be offered, supported by instructional videos from Khenchen Nyima Gyaltsen. It will make it possible to study the work in depth and integrate the contents into one’s own practice.
